One of Square Enix’s lead character designers has left the company, it was revealed today. Akihiko Yoshida most recently contributed to Bravely Default, which will be released in North America on February 7, 2014. Though Akihiko Yoshida is no longer with Square Enix, it appears he will still be a part of the Bravely Default series since his name was mentioned in the announcement of Bravely Second.
Akihiko Yoshida is a veteran of sorts in Square Enix, having worked on titles such as Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII, Tactics Ogre and The Four Heroes of Light. His art style always had a distinct look to it and it was always easy to see which games he had influence on.
His departure was announced through a personal message printed in The Art of Bravely, an art book for Bravely Default that was released earlier today in Japan.
