The movie adaptation of the best-selling game of all time, Minecraft, is now in theaters. A Minecraft Movie currently has a 48 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but as usual for any form of entertainment based on video games, the audience rating is much higher at 87 percent for verified audiences and 84 percent for all audiences. The movie stars Jack Black as the iconic Steve, Jason Momoa as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, Danielle Brooks as Dawn, Emma Myers as Natalie, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen as Henry. Other notable actors making an appearance include Jennifer Coolidge and Kate McKinnon.

To celebrate the movie’s launch, Minecraft has partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures for free in-game content available at the Minecraft Marketplace.First, there’s the A Minecraft Movie DLC, which allows gamers to play iconic moments from the film and see if they can reach the top of the leaderboard. This includes competing in elytra races, surviving the night, and sneaking into a woodland mansion.

The next offering is an add-on featuring powerful weapons and vicious piglins from the film. Players can equip the potato launcher, buck-chuckets, and more while taking on the Piglin General, the Great Hog, and other foes. Another add-on is the Lava Chicken, bringing Steve’s recipe from the film to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. The final freebie is A Minecraft Movie: Hero Pack, which adds skins of all the film’s main characters to the game.
