Final Fantasy VII’s mobile game, titled Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, is set to launch sometime this year. You can currently pre-register on the App Store and Google Play. Although Square Enix didn’t officially announce a release date for the mobile game, the App Store does say it is expected on September 30, 2023. That’s likely a placeholder date for Q3 2023.
We will, however, learn more about the game soon, as a closed beta test will take place from July 6 to July 13, but only on Android. It’s a bit confusing because the trailer suggests the closed beta will take place from June 8 to June 28, but those are the dates within which you need to sign up (pre-register) to have a chance to get into the closed beta next month. Only players in the U.S. and Canada can participate in the closed beta.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is going to be a chapter-structured RPG experience that covers key elements of the Final Fantasy VII timeline, including events of the original game and new story elements penned by Final Fantasy VII Remake story and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima. We hope the gacha elements will be similar to those of Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, which is known as one of the most generous mobile games out there. It appears that the game will feature different costumes for characters, as evident from the trailer where we see Aerith wearing Genesis’s garb.
