Today’s headlines are mostly centered around the pending release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which will clearly be a Game of the Year candidate based on early reviews. But another game that is getting a lot of hype leading up to its release is Final Fantasy XVI. I mentioned before that Square Enix is probably the most confident it has been in a mainline Final Fantasy title in over a decade, starting Final Fantasy XVI’s marketing months ahead of the game’s launch. And just when we thought we’ve seen more than enough, six new videos have been shared on YouTube, detailing more of what Final Fantasy XVI will have to offer when it launches June 22 on the PlayStation 5.
The videos go through various features in the game, starting with “Titanic Clashes,” which showcases the head-to-head epic battles when rival Dominants face off with their Eikons. Then there is “From Strength to Strength,” a video that focuses on the main character of the game, Clive. Those who aren’t fans of action-based combat, the “Story-Focused Mode” video gives a good look at how gameplay can be altered so just about anyone can enjoy what the game has to offer.
The next video, titled “The More the Merrier,” gives a glimpse at some of the companions who will be joining Clive in his journey through Valisthea. One of those companions is Torgal, who gets his own video titled, “A Hero’s Best Friend.” Finally, you can see how Clive utilizes the powers of multiple Eikons in battle in the “Eikonic Action” video.
