According to a Deadline report, Vampire Survivors might be our next video game adaptation onto television. Yes, it’s quite unexpected, considering the game doesn’t have much of a story or plot to follow — certainly not one that would translate well to an animated series. Nonetheless, the game’s popularity has led Story Kitchen to partner with the game’s developer, poncle founder Luca Galante, for the animated television series. The report says the show is searching for a writer and the project will be shopped to animated television network buyers.

Story Kitchen is from John Wick creator and writer Derek Kolstad, alongside Sonic the Hedgehog film and TV producer Dmitri M. Johnson, and former APA agent and partner Mike Goldberg. Currently, Story Kitchen has several video game adaptations planned including Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, Toejam and Earl, Streets of Rage, and It Takes Two.

Who knows? Vampire Survivors was one of the biggest surprises in the last few years, perhaps the animated series will surprise us as well.
