Well, it’s April Fools’ Day somewhere in this world. SEGA released a trailer for a game titled The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, and while it looked like it could be a very elaborate and well-done April Fools’ joke, it’s actually a game that you can download on Steam and play for free, right now. It looks to be a charming visual novel-type game where Amy Rose is hosting a murder mystery party on the Mirage Express for her birthday, and Sonic is the murder victim.
You can check out the launch trailer below and if it interests you, download the game for free on Steam.
Update: We downloaded it and played it for a bit. It has no business being as good as it is. For an April Fools’ joke it’s very well done. Kudos to the Sonic Social team who put it all together, calling it a “labor of love” in the YouTube description and it’s clear a lot of effort was put into the game.If you’re a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, you should definitely give this a download — it’s a charming and cute little story featuring all your favorite characters from the Sonic franchise. And there are chili dogs, because it’s Sonic.
