In case you couldn’t tell, the staff at FullCleared loves card games and deckbuilders. Our extensive coverage of the Hearthstone closed beta nearly a decade ago helped get our site off the ground. More recently, some of us sat down and spent some hours checking out HELLCARD’s Early Access. Now we have another deckbuilder to turn our attention to, this time it’s called Wildfrost and it just looks absolutely charming.

Wildfrost comes from Will Lewis, who is a programmer and designer at Deadpan Games, and artist Gaziter. Gaziter has produced art for Forager and KnotBot, while Lewis previously worked on Caveblazers. The card-battling adventure looks to mix mechanics from various existing card games, with you starting by choosing a leader with randomized stats and abilities. The turn-based battles have a bit of a twist, since each card has a turn counter. That means they won’t attack after every single turn, allowing for some potentially powerful combinations. Unit placement also matters in Wildfrost, adding a layer of strategy to its gameplay.

Wildfrost is heading to Steam and the Nintendo Switch on April 12. There is currently a demo on the Nintendo eShop you can check out.
