One of the worst-kept secrets over the past week, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now officially available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Priced at $49.99 for the standard version and $59.99 for a Deluxe Edition, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is also available to Game Pass subscribers.
In a 19-minute presentation, the teams at Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos share details on the remaster, which modernizes the 2006 title with new visuals, refined gameplay, and expanded voice acting. Beneath the Unreal Engine 5 fresh coat of paint lie the same underlying systems (Creation Engine) as the original game, with some refinements. As Todd Howard said, they wanted to retain some of that classic “charm” in the remastered version. While many will be buzzing about the game’s visuals, some of the UI and UX have also been refined and more voice acting has been added since the game is no longer limited by what it can fit on a disc. The game offers 4K resolution, 60 FPS performance, all-new textures, lighting effects, and landscape improvements.
Some quality of life improvements to the original game include HUD, menu, and map reworks; improved UI for systems like Persuasion, Clairvoyance, and more; modifications to leveling, encumbrance, non-combat perks, and other mechanics; improved enemy scaling; enhanced accessibility features; additional autosaves; revised first- and third-person camera; and more.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered includes the previously released Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions, plus other downloadable content. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds unique digital armor, weapons, and horse‑armor sets for Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon, plus a digital artbook and soundtrack app.
