The last few years haven’t been great for Star Wars fans who are gamers. If there has ever been a game where my first reaction was “please don’t suck,” it would be Star Wars Zero Company. Officially announced today by publisher Electronic Arts, Star Wars Zero Company is an upcoming single-player turn-based tactics game heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s in development by Bit Reactor, with collaboration from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. We’ll have to wait until April 19 to hear more, though, with the first details coming at Star Wars Celebration Japan on April 19 at 12:30 AM Pacific (3:30 AM Eastern). The team only shared the key art for the title, but we do know it takes place during the Clone Wars.
Developer Bit Reactor was founded in 2022 and is comprised of veterans from games such as XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and Elder Scrolls Online. Really, a modern XCOM-inspired Star Wars game could be a winner. Respawn Entertainment’s contributions should be important too because the team has been responsible for arguably the best modern Star Wars titles with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Star Wars fans have had to endure some not-so-great games in recent years, with Star Wars: Hunters shutting down later this year and Star Wars Outlaws’ reception being so lukewarm that it caused Ubisoft to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows twice.
