In an era where live service games are failing more than they are succeeding, such as Concord, Marvel Rivals enjoyed a smooth launch weekend with 10 million players worldwide. This is impressive and demonstrates that live service games can be appealing, provided you have a decent free-to-play model and an established IP full of famous characters. NetEase Games deserves a lot of credit, though, because Marvel Rivals is actually fun to play, and while some people encountered server errors, this launch was relatively smooth given the number of players. Marvel Rivals reached a peak of 480,990 players on Steam.

It鈥檚 hard not to compare the game to Overwatch, but it has its own standout features, such as the Team-Up abilities. All heroes in Marvel Rivals are unlocked and free-to-play at launch, and there鈥檚 an impressive roster of favorites, including Black Panther, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Groot, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man, Jeff the Land Shark, Loki, Magneto, Rocket Raccoon, Squirrel Girl, Spider-Man, Thor, and more.
