During last month’s State of Play, Team Asobi confirmed Astro Bot would be getting five brand-new speedrun levels and 10 new Special Bots to rescue sometime this fall. Now we know that release date is actually tomorrow, October 17, with the first speedrun level, Building Speed, being added. The stage will feature Barkster, the bulldog booster, as the powerup, and players can compete on an online leaderboard to see who has the best time. A new speedrun level will launch every week after, with Let it Slide arriving on October 24, Spring-loaded Run on October 31, Helium Heights on November 7, and Rising Heat on November 14. Every update will be live at 6:00am Pacific (9:00am Eastern).

Each of the new speedrun levels contains two brand-new Special Bots for players to rescue, totaling 10. Team Asobi continues to keep eight of them a secret, having confirmed Eve from Stellar Blade and the Helldivers. Again, these new maps and Special Bots will be free content updates to Astro Bot.

In my Astro Bot review, I couldn’t help but express just what a joy the game is to play. It’s like a breath of fresh air and one of the most enjoyable 3D platformers I have ever played.
