There’s little reason to doubt that Metaphor: ReFantazio will be a great game, given the team behind it. For those unsure if it’s the right game for them, Atlus has released the Metaphor: ReFantazio Prologue Demo on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Saved data from the demo will transfer to the full game when it releases on October 11, so for those who have already preordered, it’s like getting a head start.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is developed by the creators of Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5, with Katsura Hashino as director. It takes place in the United Kingdom of Euchronia, a stark departure from Persona’s more realistic, Japan-based settings. It’s a fantasy game where players must find a way to break the curse that has been placed on the prince who the kingdom believes to be dead. The game features a turn-based combat system with a blend of real-time action, while party customization comes in the form of Archetype powers. Naturally, since this is from the creators of Persona, expect mechanics centered around strengthening relationships and building bonds with your companions.
