The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was my favorite game last year, and I wouldn’t have imagined that Nintendo would release another potential Game of the Year contender so quickly. But that is what The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is starting to look like, especially with the latest trailer giving the impression that the game will essentially be a 2D version of Tears of the Kingdom. The announcement trailer, which was part of Nintendo’s June Direct, showcased the echoes mechanic, which allows players to create imitations of certain objects found in the environment.

Today’s trailer not only reveals a horse that will serve as Zelda’s mount in this adventure but also the Bind and Reverse Bond powers. These powers will make objects follow Zelda’s movements or allow Zelda to follow an object’s movements. Just the short clips seen in the trailer can make your imagination run wild with the potential of these powers on gameplay.

Other features seen in the trailer include quests that Zelda will be able to do throughout the kingdom of Hyrule, accessories she can collect, and different outfits she can equip that will change her appearance. There is also a similar cooking mechanic to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, except in Echoes of Wisdom, Zelda will blend smoothies for different effects.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is set to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on September 26. The game will also launch with a Nintendo Switch Lite Hyrule Edition: a gold console featuring iconic artwork.
