The Borderlands franchise is one of my favorites in all of gaming—especially Borderlands 2, which is on my list of the best games I’ve ever played. I was cautiously optimistic when they announced a movie adaptation was being made, but I became concerned when they revealed the casting. I honestly wasn’t sure what to feel when the first official trailer released, and now that the final trailer has dropped, I’m hesitant to think it’ll be entertaining.

Part of me wants to treat the movie like any of the recent Fast and Furious flicks, where I just turn my brain off and try not to think too much about it. However, the awkward casting and some of the dialogue in this trailer seem so uninspired. I agree with those commenting that it feels like a bunch of cosplayers acting out their favorite Borderlands scenes.

I’m hoping it’s half decent, or at least mildly entertaining enough to watch. The cast members are all excellent actors, but none of them seem to fit the roles they’re playing. We’re just a few weeks away from its release on August 9, so it’ll be interesting to see what the critics think.
