Cloud gaming may be off to a slow start, but it’s difficult to deny the possibilities of the technology. Amazon has been working to grow its Luna user base, and its latest effort to do this is a partnership with GOG. The two companies have announced that any game you own on GOG that is also available on Luna can be played on Luna. Since GOG games are DRM-free, you will not have to purchase them a second time to access them on Luna. This also means that you can purchase games that are available on GOG through Luna’s client, and they’ll be available in your GOG library. GOG also confirmed that cloud saves and achievements work when playing on Luna.
Luna is currently available in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Austria, and the Netherlands. If you’re interested in trying out the service, you can link your GOG account to Luna, and if you have Prime Gaming or a Luna+ subscription, you’re ready to access your GOG library. The Luna+ subscription does grant you access to more titles. Currently, there are over 40 games available to play on Luna, including Stardew Valley, Ghostrunner 2, Hollow Knight, and more.
This partnership does open up some interesting gaming-on-the-go opportunities. Going on a trip might just mean bringing a controller and using your smartphone to stream games, assuming you have a good connection. This might work well for games like Stardew Valley, allowing you to tend to your farm when you’re away from home.
