Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake took to the stage at the Summer Game Fest, but instead of delivering another musical dance, he announced Night Springs with a surprise launch date of tomorrow. Night Springs features three familiar characters: Shawn Ashmore/Timothy Breaker as the Actor, Rose Marigold as the Number One Fan, and Control’s Jesse Faden as the Sibling. In the DLC, you aren’t exactly playing those characters as we know them—you’re taking on their Night Springs versions, which are going to be bizarre and quirky. Even more bizarre and quirky than Alan Wake 2 already is. The DLC takes place across three different episodes and comes with the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pass, which is included in the digital deluxe edition. Those who didn’t purchase the deluxe edition at launch can upgrade for $20. The Expansion Pass also includes The Lake House, a DLC scheduled to launch in October.

Sam Lake also announced that physical versions of Alan Wake 2 are finally being released. The physical deluxe edition and the limited collector’s edition will include the base game, Season Pass, and other bonuses, including skins for co-protagonists Saga and Alan. For everyone else, Alan Wake 2 will receive a free update tomorrow that adds Photo mode.

In our Alan Wake 2 review, we found the game to come very close to being a masterpiece but doesn’t quite cross the line.
