Set in the award-winning SteamWorld Universe, SteamWorld Build is launching December 1, 2023 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. The upcoming title lets players build and manage their own unique SteamWorld mining town, while exploring five distinctive maps inspired by the SteamWorld universe and filled with secrets. The game is an interesting blend of city builder with dungeon exploration and resource management, with a little bit of tower defense thrown in for good measure. Players will have to explore and develop an abandoned mine, while managing and optimizing complex resource chains.

For those unfamiliar with the SteamWorld universe, it encompasses a series of video games that depict the adventures of steam-driven robots in a post-apocalyptic steampunk setting. Notable games in the franchise include: SteamWorld Tower Defense, SteamWorld Dig, SteamWorld Heist, SteamWorld Dig 2, SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech, SteamWorld Build, and the upcoming SteamWorld: Headhunter.

“In SteamWorld Build, you are the architect of a SteamWorld mining town,” reads the game’s description. “Break ground and raise houses for your steambot citizens, keep them fed and provide some rootin’-tootin’ entertainment. There’s an abandoned mine sitting under your town, and it’s rumored to be filled with ancient tech that holds the key to escaping the impending doom. Use the natural resources above ground and the abundant ores buried in the mine to expand your town. Stimulate new residential tiers to join the quest to dig deeper, unearth untold riches, and ultimately help them to hightail it off the planet!”

Developed by The Station and published by Thunderful Games, SteamWorld Build will also be available on Game Pass day one.
