Earlier today, during Gamescom Opening Night Live, CD Projekt Red unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty. The trailer, titled “New Ways to Play,” gave a preview of some of the new features heading to the base game as part of the free Update 2.0. Gameplay Designer Yuliia Pryimak joined Geoff Keighley on stage to discuss the trailer, that also unveiled exclusive new features heading to the Phantom Liberty expansion, including the Relic skill tree. This new skill tree offers a wide range of abilities, so players can master new playstyles while creating unique, meaningful builds. The expansion also introduces a densely packed new location called Dogtown that features endless dynamic events and missions, action-packed gigs, new clothing items, weapons, cyberware, and more.

Other changes heading to Cyberpunk 2077 include a redesigned perks system that has new perks designed to give players more impactful gameplay options. The developer also said that enemy AI in combat will be improved, in an attempt to make fights more dynamic and intuitive. In addition, there will be a new police system with revamped AI so that the NCPD will respond to player actions in more realistic and engaging ways. The driving experience in Night City will also see upgrades with the addition of vehicle combat where players can shoot while driving, as well as quickhack enemy vehicles from other cars and motorbikes.

CD Projekt Red confirmed the redesigned skill trees, overhauled police system, and vehicle combat will be available for free as part of Update 2.0 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Meanwhile, Phantom Liberty is set to launch on September 26 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
