It’s hard to believe the Xbox 360 is nearly 18 years old, but that will be the case come November. Earlier today, Microsoft announced that starting on July 29, 2024, Xbox will stop supporting the ability to purchase new games, DLC, and other entertainment content from the Xbox 360 Store on the console and the Xbox 360 Marketplace. In addition, starting on that same day, the Microsoft Movies & TV app will no longer work on the Xbox 360, so users will no longer be able to view TV and movie content on the console.
Between now and that date in July, however, players can continue purchasing games and DLC from the Xbox 360 Store and the Xbox 360 Marketplace. The most important note is that the change will not affect anyone’s ability to play Xbox 360 games or DLC they have already purchased. All game content previously purchased will be available to play, not only on the Xbox 360, but also Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility.
Finally, multiplayer games will still work even after July 2024. Players will be able to play games and connect with friends, so long as the publisher still supports the online servers.
