Rayman is finally back, but probably not in the way you hoped. The iconic character is heading to Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope in the game’s third DLC, titled Rayman in the Phantom Show. He’ll team up with Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach as they meet up with the Phantom. Based on the trailer, it’s clear the story in the DLC is separate from the main game since it’s set at the Space Opera Network. The Phantom, who players of the original Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle might recognize as a villain, is now a TV director at the television studio and his ratings are plummeting. In hopes of reviving the studio, he brings in old stars, like Rayman.
David Gasman is returning to voice Rayman in the DLC, and Ubisoft is putting in a lot of care to make sure his loadout in the game is plucked from previous games. The DLC costs $14.99 if you purchase it standalone, but it’s also included in the game’s Season Pass and Gold Edition.
The last time Rayman starred in his own game was Rayman Legends, launched in 2013.
