Tavern Brawl has been revealed as the new Hearthstone game mode that will be heading to the popular mobile and PC game in mid-June. As part of a large patch that will include other features, Tavern Brawl will have exciting and unique rules every week and will be a head-to-head game mode against other players. For example, one week could feature preset decks, while another week will have players crafting a brand new Tavern Brawl deck following specific guidelines, while others might offer buffs to specific minion types.

The new game mode will be unlocked once a player has a hero at level 20 and Tavern Brawl will also be available against friends. Blizzard noted that Tavern Brawls will be temporarily closed for a couple of days after each one ends and the mode will be free to play. As part of the launch celebration, players will earn a free original card pack after their first game of the week in the first several brawls.

Other features heading to the upcoming Hearthstone patch include new hero portraits that will be available for purchase with real money at $9.99 a piece. Lastly, players will also be able to customize their decks by assigning each one its own card back as part of the patch.

No definitive date was announced for Hearthstone Patch 2.7, but given Blizzard’s track record with the game it will likely go live next Tuesday, June 17.
