Microsoft has announced that a new Home experience is rolling out to all Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. The idea behind this new Home design is to make it easier to discover new games, rediscover games players already love, connect with communities, and offer a more personalized experience. Microsoft said the design came from player feedback and improving the Home experience was a Team Xbox effort, from engineers to designers to researchers, and more.
While many changes focus on customization, the new Xbox Home also enhances user experience through a quick access menu at the top. There, players can easily access their Library, the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, Search, and Settings. The overall layout has been simplified, creating more space for a personalized background. Recently played games, along with other content and apps, are now displayed towards the bottom of the screen.
Xbox owners also now have the option to change their background to match the game they’re highlighting in the recently played list. Microsoft has also improved game discovery by introducing lists of games that have been curated and personalized for the player. The new Home experience also adds the ability to pin favorite games, curated groups, and system groups to Home.
The new Home UI is rolling out to a subset of all Xbox consoles, so some customers will need to wait a few weeks before they can check it out themselves. However, it will be available to all users over the next few weeks. In the meantime, you can check out a guide on how to customize the new Home experience.
