One of the biggest surprises of 2023, Dave the Diver is finally available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles today. The release announcement came during the Xbox Partner Preview showcase, which also shared brand new footage of the upcoming In the Jungle DLC, set to launch in 2026. Today’s trailer gave us a sneak peek at the new biomes, characters, and aquatic encounters players will experience with the upcoming DLC. Dave the Diver, which has sold over six million copies, is also getting a physical release in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Switch 2, in partnership with Silver Lining Interactive.
For those who have never heard of Dave the Diver, the game entered Steam Early Access in 2022 before launching its 1.0 release in 2023. It’s a single-player adventure RPG that stars Dave, who explores the sea during the day and runs a sushi restaurant at night. Joining Dave on the adventure is a wacky cast of characters with charming personalities. While I never did finish the game, I spent dozens of hours with it and found it really enjoyable.
As for the upcoming In the Jungle DLC, it’ll be Dave the Diver’s largest expansion to date and adds a brand new story in which Dave ends up on dry land with a new jungle biome. Of course, there are freshwater environments filled with new fish, ingredients, friends, and foes, as Dave teams up with jungle locals to explore the island.
