At BlizzCon 2023, Chris Metzen returned to the stage to announce World of Warcraft’s next expansion as the MMORPG heads towards its 20th anniversary. As someone who has been involved with the Warcraft franchise since its inception, Metzen shared the team’s thought process when deciding the future direction of World of Warcraft for the next 20 years. Dubbed the Worldsoul Saga, this “epic” storyline will unfold over multiple expansions in the coming years. As a result, Blizzard Entertainment gave its fans a glimpse at World of Warcraft’s next three expansions.
In World of Warcraft: The War Within, the first installment of the Worldsoul Saga, players will delve into the heart of Azeroth to engage with ancient cultures, including the enigmatic Nerubian. The following expansion will be called World of Warcraft: Midnight. In that chapter, players will be returning to The Old World and the fabled lands of Quel’Thalas. The third and final expansion announced today is World of Warcraft: The Last Titan. In this part of the Worldsoul Saga, players will once again return to The Old World, but this time to the lands of Northrend. There, players will return to Ulduar and uncover all the secrets of the old Titans.
