Own the original Wii Fit and the Wii U? Nintendo has an interesting proposition to keep you in shape. The company has announced today during its Wii Fit U Direct that current Wii Balance Board owners will be able to download Wii Fit U for free starting on November 1, 2013 through January 31, 2014. Those players will be able to check out the new game for free for a month. If you like it, you can keep the game simply by buying the new Fit Meter for $19.99.

For a company that has often times gone under fire for its multitude of accessories, Nintendo has really gone out of its way to give previous owners of Wii Fit an affordable way to upgrade to Wii Fit U. Oddly enough, Nintendo will also be releasing a Wii Fit U and Fit Meter bundle for $49.99 starting on December 13, 2013 – though we’re not sure why you’d want to get that since you could just download the game for free during that same time frame. But for those that didn’t join the Wii Fit bandwagon, the Wii Fit U, Fit Meter and Wii Balance Board package will run $89.99.

Wii Fit U will feature 77 different activities including 19 that are all-new and some take advantage of the Wii U’s GamePad controller. The new Fit Meter allows you to track your daily activities and syncs with the game while the new Gym Communities will let you share goals with others to stay motivated.

On February 1, 2014 Nintendo will offer the full-price digital version of the game
