When a franchise is over 20 years old, has 13 games originally released across multiple platforms, and a reputation for being convoluted, it’s almost no surprise the developer needs to release an official video declaring the correct order to play the games. However, even Square Enix has two suggestions for the order you should play Kingdom Hearts.
Now that the compilations are available on Steam, Square Enix has decided to provide advice on the order to play the series. Officially, Square Enix says the Dark Seeker Saga is the preferred order, which follows the story release order. Interestingly, Melody of Memory isn’t mentioned in either list—but we recommend you play that last anyway.
