While this may not be our last update about Palworld’s sales success, it’s remarkable what the game has managed to achieve. Having sold over five million units in just three days and reaching a peak of 1,582,482 concurrent players, the crafting survival game now ranks third on SteamDB’s all-time list, only behind Counter-Strike 2 (1,818,773) and PUBG: Battlegrounds (3,257,248). No matter how you look at it, Palworld’s success is very rare, especially for an indie game.
For perspective, Valheim, which experienced a similar surge in popularity, took about one month to reach five million units sold. For as much hate as the crafting survival genre gets for its abundance of unsupported Early Access releases, it’s clear that there is an audience for titles that show even a hint of polish. Seven of us spent the majority of our weekend in Palworld, building bases, capturing Pals, and exploring all that the game currently offers. We’ll be publishing our first impressions later this afternoon, but, the game is already impressive for its current $26.99 price.
