Two possible Game of the Year contenders are sharing the spotlight on April 13, now that Nintendo has announced The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is getting its final pre-launch trailer at 7:00am PDT or 10:00am EDT. That leaves plenty of time for the internet to pick it apart before Final Fantasy XVI’s State of Play reveals another 20 minutes of gameplay.
The upcoming trailer for Tears of the Kingdom will be roughly three minutes long, according to Nintendo. This follows up on the gameplay demonstration Mr. Aonuma hosted in late March. In that video, we got to see several of the game’s new mechanics and Link’s powers, including Ascend, Fuse, Recall, and Ultrahand. It was also where Nintendo revealed the special edition Tears of the Kingdom OLED Switch and accessories.
What’s interesting is that Nintendo is doing a livestream of the trailer’s debut, which suggests there might be some surprises. It’s also a way for Nintendo to avoid possible leaks from someone having early access to the uploaded video on YouTube.
