The PlayStation Blog has opened voting for its Game of the Year Awards, which focuses on titles available within the PlayStation ecosystem. While it’s not as popular or prestigious as The Game Awards, the PS Blog Awards are respected within the PlayStation community. Voting is now open across 19 categories, featuring extensive selections in each, with a write-in option if your top pick isn’t on the list. For those unfamiliar with the PlayStation Blog Awards, only votes cast by the general public are counted, making it a popularity contest. The games that earn the majority of votes by the time polls close will receive Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum PS Blog trophies when the results are revealed in a few weeks. Voting closes on December 13 at 11:59pm Pacific (December 14 at 2:59am Eastern).
For this year’s voting, the PlayStation Blog provided some guidelines. The Best PlayStation 5 Game Category is defined as games that have been newly released in 2024, rather than previously released titles with new updates. The Best Multiplayer Experience category also focuses on titles released this year, while Best Ongoing Game focuses on titles that have received large-scale content or game-changing updates in 2024. The Best Rerelease category is for games that have been upgraded, ported, or remastered but are otherwise similar to the original game. That means remakes of older titles are not eligible for Best Rerelease.
This year’s cutoff for inclusion was November 30, so any game released after that date will be eligible for nomination and voting in the 2025 Awards. Finally, if a title won a Platinum Trophy in the Most Anticipated category in a previous year, it isn’t eligible for inclusion this year. As a result, Grand Theft Auto VI is ineligible since it earned a Platinum Trophy in that category in last year’s awards.
