Capcom is hosting a 26-minute Capcom Spotlight today, March 9, at 2:30 PM PST / 5:30 PM EST. The digital event will be streaming on YouTube and Twitch and Capcom has made it clear that it will focus on the following five titles:
- Resident Evil 4
- Exoprimal
- Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
- Monster Hunter Rise
- Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection
Each one of the websites for the above games, except for Monster Hunter Rise, mentions that it’ll be showcased in today’s Capcom Spotlight. Monster Hunter Rise is the exception likely because it’s been out for quite some time now on the Nintendo Switch, but recently released on other platforms. Today’s announcement will probably be the release date for its expansion, Sunbreak, on those other platforms.
Noticeably missing from the list is Street Fighter VI, but we’ll likely hear more about that game in a separate event leading up to its release in June. Some would argue it is Capcom’s biggest release this year and warrants its own spotlight.
For this event however, Resident Evil 4 will be the star of the show, and there are reports that some users prematurely saw Twitch ads for the remake that ends with “Demo Available Now.” It wouldn’t be surprising if the demo drops after today’s show, since Capcom did say a demo was coming in the “near future” during the PlayStation State of Play in February.
I’m most excited to see more about Exoprimal, as it could be a surprisingly fun co-op experience. Hopefully we’ll get a release date in today’s event.
