The Long Dark Kickstarter project is dwindling down to just eight days left and is slightly over halfway to its goal. The team at Hinterland has released the first gameplay video for the upcoming title, which is being billed as a first-person post-disaster survival simulation set in the Northern wilderness. According to Kickstarter page for The Long Dark, the game is a “thoughtful, exploration focused survival simulation,” and will have you asking the question, “How far will you go to survive?”

Players will take on the role of bush pilot William Mackenzie who gets stranded after his plane crashes and will have to brave extreme weather conditions while strategically using food, energy and water in order to survive.

The Long Dark is being developed by Hinterland Studio Inc., which is a new independent game studio helmed by a core team of veteran developers that have worked on titles such as Saints Row The ThirdMass EffectStar Wars The Old Republic, and the God of War franchise.

So far, the game looks absolutely gorgeous and the gameplay seems interesting. You can also hit the source link if you’d like to pledge your support.
