There really hasn’t been much official news on the live-action movie adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, but earlier this year, Nintendo revealed an original release date of March 26, 2027. We’ll now have to wait a few more weeks, as Nintendo has confirmed on social media that the movie will now release on May 7, 2027. Interestingly, May 7, 2027 was the original date Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars was supposed to be released, but that has since been delayed to December 17, 2027.

Originally announced in November 2023, the Legend of Zelda movie will be a live-action adaptation produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad. Sony Pictures Entertainment is handling distribution and co-financing the movie with Nintendo. What little we know is that Derek Connolly is writing the screenplay, and Wes Ball is directing. No details on the movie’s plot have been shared, nor do we know anything about its cast.
