The first screenshots of Tales from the Borderlands have been shared by Telltale Games along with details on the upcoming title. While the Borderlands franchise is most well known as a first-person shooter (FPS) series with tons of loot, Telltale Games will continue its tradition of episodic storytelling in Tales from the Borderlands rather than taking a FPS approach.
The company will leverage Borderlands‘ compelling characters such as Handsome Jack, Tiny Tina, Angel, Moxxi and of course the fan favorite Claptrap, to weave a story and form a world that builds on what Gearbox has established in the previous Borderlands games. Telltale Games admitted that if you’re a fan of Borderlands “simply for the sake of shooting stuff, then you might not be a fan of Tales, but if you enjoy being on Pandora, hanging out with and finding out more about all of the amazing characters, and/or you’ve enjoyed what we did in The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, then this might be a game series for you.”
Even more interesting, Telltale Games revealed that loot grabbed in Tales from the Borderlands will be available to use in other areas of the Borderlands franchise. The series will be episodic in nature, with each episode running $4.99 – but as usual, you can save by purchasing a Season Pass. Like all previous Telltale Games, choices you make will matter in creating your own version of the story and the series will take place after the events of Borderlands 2.
Players will play through two different viewpoints: Rhys, who works for Hyperion and Fiona, a fast-talking con artist.
