Sonic the Hedgehog 3, heading to theaters on December 20, has a new trailer. In late August, the movie unveiled Keanu Reeves as Shadow, and the latest trailer is every Shadow fan’s dream. Although the trailer is under two and a half minutes long, it is packed with references to Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog. Yes, they even gave Shadow a gun. We also hear more of Keanu’s interpretation of Shadow, which so far sounds spot-on.

It’s amazing how far the franchise has come since the first trailer for the initial Sonic the Hedgehog movie. There are likely some fans who prefer to pretend that version of Sonic never existed, especially since it became the butt of a joke in 2022’s Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers. It’s great to see Sonic the Hedgehog hitting his stride on the big screen, since more entertaining video game adaptations are always welcome.
