Super Mario Bros. Wonder is getting a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition ($19.99 upgrade), which also adds the Meetup in Bellabel Park content. Launching on March 26, the update will bring new co-op and competitive gameplay to the Flower Kingdom, and Nintendo has shared more details. The new content centers around visiting Bellabel Park, a new area of the Flower Kingdom that has two large plazas packed with new attractions. Players can either team up or face off in various challenges, as the Local Multiplayer Plaza has 17 different attractions that can be played with up to three friends on the same system.

The Switch 2 Edition also supports GameShare, which means if one player has the game, they can share it locally with up to three other players. There’s also a Game Room Plaza that supports online and local wireless play, where each player brings their own system to play locally or online. Game Room Plaza features six additional attractions and supports up to 12 players.

Other new additions include the Toad Brigade Training Camp, where players can put their skills to the test across various challenges set in courses from the game. Assist Mode is designed for newer and younger players and will automatically recover from unexpected falls without losing a life. It also lets players avoid taking damage, no matter which character they play.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is Rosalina joining the roster. Then again, maybe it’s not that big of a surprise considering her presence in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which is arriving in theaters on April 3, 2026. Rosalina is joined by co-star Luma as an assist character, available when at least two people are playing together. Luma won’t take damage and can help other players out by spinning to defeat enemies and gather coins. Nintendo also added mouse controls for Luma. Finally, seven Koopalings are joining the party, stealing the treasure hidden inside Bellabel Park and scattering it throughout the Flower Kingdom. Players will have the chance to run into one of these Koopalings in various worlds across the Flower Kingdom. If they do, they’ll want to enter that Koopaling’s course and take them on.

Alongside the launch of Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park are three new amiibo: Elephant Mario, Poplin & Prince Florian, and Captain Toad & Talking Flower. There’s also the Talking Flower standalone product, which will speak freely or on demand with the press of a button. The Talking Flower launches on March 12, but preorders begin today, January 22, on My Nintendo Store and select retailers.

I honestly haven’t been big on 2D platformers since I was younger, but Super Mario Bros. Wonder won me over. In my review, I talked about how the game will put a smile on your face, no matter how jaded you’ve become with video games.
