Anyone who has played both Stellar Blade and NieR: Automata likely thought a crossover was inevitable. oth game directors, Kim Hyung Tae (Stellar Blade) and Yoko Taro (NieR), have expressed mutual respect, and anyone who has followed Yoko Taro’s antics over the years will understand why he’s a fan of Stellar Blade. First announced in late September, the Stellar Blade x NieR: Automata crossover will launch on November 20, developer Shift Up has confirmed.
While it’s unclear whether the crossover includes more than NieR-inspired costumes, players will see Emil’s Shop in the world of Stellar Blade. In a blog post, Shift Up revealed that Emil’s Shop will offer 11 different collaboration items. Screenshots show off several costumes, including a few 2B variants, A2, Emil, and Pod 042.
Alongside the NieR items, the November 20 update adds Photo Mode with various filters and poses, allowing players to capture their personal favorites. Four additional costumes and a new accessory, Symbol of Legacy, will also be added. Symbol of Legacy changes the appearance and presentation of Tachy Mode when equipped. Some players may be most excited about the No Ponytail option for Eve, included in the patch. Minor additions include lip-sync support for French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Latin American Spanish, along with the ability to select a specific song from the turntable to listen to while resting at camp. For battle updates, auto-targeting and ballistics correction features will be applied to enemy insta-kill skills.
In my review of Stellar Blade, I found the game both brilliant and frustrating, yet an impressive first attempt from developer Shift Up.
Update November 16, 2024: Developer Shift Up has confirmed that the NieR DLC is paid, but the photo mode and costume updates will remain free.
