Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), creators of EverQuest, PlanetSide, DC Universe Online, H1Z1 and more, has been sold to investment firm Columbus Nova and will now operate under the Daybreak Game Company name. Daybreak Game Company will be an independent game studio and will continue to work on H1Z1, EverQuest Next, EverQuest Landmark and other projects that were initially started under SOE and more importantly, the company will begin developing for Xbox and mobile consoles according to a tweet by John Smedley, president of Daybreak Game Company.
In a separate post on Reddit, the company shared that “It will be business as usual and all SOE games will continue on their current path of development and operation.” The company also expects to “have even more resources available to use as a result of this acquisition.”
