While millions of players are enjoying their brand new Switch 2 consoles and Mario Kart World, Sonic Team was at Summer Game Fest to announce that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is launching on September 25, 2025. Heading to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is the team’s biggest Sonic racing game yet, and it’s already begun teasing some of the Season Pass content with a Minecraft crossover.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has players racing through Travel Rings, transporting them to different dimensions in a variety of offline and online modes. In a small jab at Mario Kart World, Sonic Team confirmed that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will support cross-play, so racers around the world can play against one another across different platforms.
Along with familiar characters from the Sonic universe, the Summer Game Fest trailer also revealed that Hatsune Miku, Ichiban Kasuga from the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, and Joker from Persona 5 will be joining the roster. Looks like the Mario and Sonic rivalry will continue, this time on the track between Mario Kart World and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
