First announced in 2022, Silent Hill f resurfaced earlier this year with a new trailer, and now it has a release date: September 25, 2025. The upcoming horror game stars Shimizu Hinako, a high schooler from Ebisugaoka who sets off to explore her hometown as it becomes engulfed in fog. The team at Konami said its mission statement during Silent Hill f’s development was “Find the beauty in terror,” which resulted in four central pillars for the game.
The first is giving players an authentic depiction of 1960s Japan, with intricate details at 4K resolution, while the second is that the visuals and music continue that juxtaposition between beauty and terror. Third, the puzzles in Silent Hill f are grounded in psychological anguish and suffering and are deeply connected to the story by scriptwriter Ryukishi07. Finally, the game will feature unique combat, at least unique to the Silent Hill franchise. It will have a heavier focus on melee and be more action-oriented compared to last year’s Silent Hill 2.
Silent Hill f is a standalone spinoff, so it’s great for newcomers to the series. Konami did say it will contain easter eggs for longtime fans, but really it works as an introduction to the franchise. PlayStation 5 Pro owners will get an enhanced graphics mode that retains graphical fidelity at a stable FPS.
