Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree is easily the most anticipated DLC of the year, and it’s just one month away from its launch date on June 21. Expected to be a sizable expansion to the multiple Game of the Year winner Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree will focus on Miquella, Malenia’s twin brother.
Today, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco released the official story trailer for the DLC, which adds context as to why players will be heading to the Land of Shadow next month. It also provides new details on Messmer the Impaler, who serves as the villain of the DLC. It’s a cinematic trailer that will keep fans of Elden Ring lore busy over the next month. For the rest of us, @andrewfragie’s YouTube comment sums it up: “Understood nothing. Loved everything.”
Shadow of the Erdtree was originally announced in February 2023 and costs $39.99 for the standard edition. A Premium Bundle, which includes a digital artbook and soundtrack, is available for $49.99. Those who haven’t experienced the base game can get the Shadow of the Erdtree Edition package for $79.99, which also includes the Ring of Miquella bonus gesture. Upgrading to the Shadow of the Erdtree Deluxe Edition, priced at $99.99, gets the base game, expansion, a digital artbook, the soundtrack for both, and the bonus gesture. There is also a $249.99 Collector’s Edition that includes a physical 40-page hardcover artbook, a statue of Messmer the Impaler, and a voucher code for the DLC and official soundtrack. The base game is not included with the Collector’s Edition. Separately, Bandai Namco is also offering a Helmet of Messmer the Impaler for $189.99.
The expansion will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC when it launches next month.
