Samsung has announced a 4TB offering for the 990 PRO series lineup. Powered by Samsung’s eighth-generation V-NAND technology and enhanced proprietary controller, the 990 PRO series can achieve sequential read speeds up to 7,450 MB/s and write speeds reaching 6,900 MB/s. The new 4TB variant boosts random read and write speeds to up to 1,600K and 1,550K IOPS (input/output operations per second), respectively. Designed with a single-sided M.2 form factor, it’s slimmer than double-sided M.2 SSDs.

Both the 4TB 990 PRO and its variant with a heatsink will be available from early October 2023. It features 4GB LPDDR4 DRAM and a rating of 2,400TB TBW (total bytes written).

“Today’s gamers and creative professionals require high-capacity, high-performance SSDs and Samsung’s new 4TB SSD 990 PRO is the perfect storage solution to meet their needs,” said Hangu Sohn, Corporate Vice President of the Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics. “As the demand for high-resolution content and ultra-fast data-processing speeds continues to grow, high-performance NVMe storage has become a core requirement.”

Pricing for the Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSDs was not announced.
