Diablo III’s first expansion, Reaper of Souls, introduces the new bounties feature which awards you with a Horadric Cache upon completion. We decided to farm out over 20 Horadric Caches in Normal difficulty before creating a game in Torment VI and opening them all. It’s a safe assumption that Blizzard will tie the quality of loot to the difficulty where the Horadric Cache was obtained in the final release of the game, but currently in beta, opening them in Torment VI seems to award you with Torment VI quality loot – as in, we got a few Imperial gems and they do not normally drop in Normal.
According to Blizzard, the drop rates of Legendary and Set items is currently toned down in the closed beta for testing purposes. It was a bit on the high side during the earlier Friends & Family beta and now it feels that it’s a bit on the low side. But out of the 20+ Horadric Caches that we opened, we received one Legendary belt, a few Legendary recipes, a ton of gems and rares.
