A charming co-op action roguelike from 2024, Rabbit and Steel, has received a free content update called Extra Mode. For those who have never heard of Rabbit and Steel, it’s a rather unique game that recreates what it’s like to raid in an MMORPG, but in a 2D format. In my review, I praised it for its gameplay and how it’s managed to capture the essence of MMORPG raiding in an entirely different setting. It’s a very good time if you have friends to play with, and we can’t wait to dive back in to check out the new content.
As for what that new content is, even the developer is keeping most of the details out of the patch notes so players can discover it themselves. What we do know is that Extra Mode features three new stages, a new final boss, four new character classes, 80 new items, and a conclusion to the Moonlit Kingdom’s story. There are also some changes to pre-existing loot and enemies, with certain items getting nerfs because they were just too good, and mino_dev didn’t want a whole set of enemies to be too easy.
Rabbit and Steel is one of those games more people should play, so if the idea of it interests you, you should grab it while it’s on sale.
