Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is arguably Square Enix’s most important launch since Final Fantasy VII Remake. The latest marketing collaboration involves famed German automaker, Porsche, which brings together two of my favorite things in the world. The two companies worked together to create a short film involving Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura, Producer Yoshinori Kitase, and Director Naoki Hamaguchi. The three take to the streets of Tokyo behind the wheel of two iconic Porsche 911 models, a classic from 1997—the year the original Final Fantasy VII launched—and the latest model from 2024.
In the video, the three reflect on the legacy of Final Fantasy VII and what it was like to create the groundbreaking RPG. Also, the collaboration resulted in a specially themed Porsche 911 featuring a Final Fantasy VII Rebirth livery. It was added to the Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles fleet, where voice actors from the game were able to take it out for a spin. Briana White (Aerith), Caleb Pierce (Zack), Suzie Yeung (Yuffie), and Max Mittelman (Red XIII) all spent time with the hands-on driving experience.
In my Final Fantasy VII Rebirth review, I praise the game for not only being one of the best Final Fantasy games ever, but one of the finest video gaming experiences I’ve ever had.
At Porsche, we’re inspired by dreamers around the world—those who are driven by a desire to create change. Few people embody that pioneering spirit quite like the creators of FINAL FANTASY VII, who redefined the role-playing game genre and raised the bar for the video game art form to astonishing new heights. On the eve of their latest highly anticipated release, we at Porsche salute the entire development team at SQUARE ENIX and continue to feel inspired by dreamers like them.
