Free ad-supported TV is coming to the PlayStation 5 starting today with the launch of Live TV on PS5, a new service from Sony Pictures Television for players in the U.S. The service offers more than 100 live channels alongside a growing selection of on-demand entertainment spanning news, sports, movies, TV shows, and anime, and it lives in the Media section of the console’s home screen. Getting started just requires signing in with your PlayStation account.
On the entertainment side, the launch lineup includes free movie channels like MovieSphere by Lionsgate, Sony One Horror Hits, and Cinevault, plus TV staples such as Community, The Shield, Hell’s Kitchen, The Walking Dead, and Unsolved Mysteries. Anime is covered too, with Naruto, Sailor Moon, Hunter x Hunter, and Death Note among the favorites, and Crunchyroll is contributing exclusive Black Clover and Box Sets channels.
Sports programming comes from FOX Sports, NASCAR, NBC Sports Now, and UFC, covering everything from MMA and football to motorsports and soccer, while news and weather options include NBC News Now, Fox Weather, and LiveNOW from FOX. There’s also a batch of creator and specialty programming, including Hot Ones, Spotify’s The Ringer, and exclusive channels like eCLUTCH.
Sony says Live TV on PS5 will continue to evolve with regularly refreshed programming, new channels, and additional content over time. As for availability, Live TV on PS5 is limited to the U.S. at launch, but Sony is already looking beyond it, with Canada named as the next stop and additional regions under consideration. No word yet on timing for Canada.
