That means you can accept the promotion now, but the 48-hour counter won’t start until you’ve fully downloaded the game and launched it for the first time. The 48-hour clock does tick in real-time, meaning it’s 48 hours from when you launch the game and not 48 hours of game time.
All your progress will be saved while you play The Sims 4 free on Origin Game Time, so if you’re liking the experience you can purchase the game afterwards and resume where you left off.
