One of the most popular coaster park simulation games, Planet Coaster, is finally getting a sequel. It’s been nearly eight years since the original Planet Coaster release, and Frontier Developments has finally pulled the cover off Planet Coaster 2. Set to launch sometime this fall, the sequel promises to push the boundaries of creativity with brand-new rides, updated favorites, exciting themes, and a cast of wonderful mascots. The game will offer piece-by-piece construction with updated path-building and the addition of plazas, a popularly requested feature.
Those who played the original will be familiar with the sequel’s park management features. Frontier is building on them, however, with players having the ability to oversee everything from ride maintenance to park cleanliness. There will be heat maps to visually highlight what’s happening within the park. While there aren’t many details yet, it does appear Planet Coaster 2 will (hopefully) focus more on the management part.
More excitingly, the announcement mentions the ability to build with other players, though only one park manager can build at a time. This means you can have a shared save to build a park with your friends, but only one person can build at a time. You will, however, be able to share your park with the world, explore other creations, and compete with friends in Franchise mode.
Planet Coaster 2 is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in the fall of 2024.
