Persona 5 Previewed in New Trailer

Persona 5 has its first real trailer, previewing the game’s cast of characters as well as the setting that the game will take place in. Unlike Persona 4, which was set in a more rural town, it appears that Persona 5 will take place in a major metropolitan city, looking a lot like Tokyo in the trailer. We get a look at four of the main characters in the cast, including the protagonist and a cat named Morgana, along with its Persona named Luxuria. While it’s not confirmed, the persona name of Luxuria hints at one of the Seven Deadly Sins, Lust. If that is the case, there’s a good chance that Persona 5 will have seven total characters, one representing each of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Noticeably missing from the main menu in the trailer is the phrase “Social Links” but instead, we see the word “Cooperation” which will likely take its place. It’s hard to believe that Persona 5 will stray away from one of its staple features in the series, which is a focus on building relationships with the other characters in the cast. Making a return in the trailer is Igor, a familiar face if you’ve played any of the previous Persona games.

Overall the art direction and animation in Persona 5 is looking fantastic and you can check out the trailer below. Persona 5 is in development for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles and will be heading to the U.S. sometime this year.
