Atlus has officially announced that Persona 5 is in development and will be released in Winter 2014 for the PS3, at least in Japan. No word yet on a North American or European release, but given the success of both Persona 3 and Persona 4, expect it to at least arrive on North American soil by 2015. And while many will be wondering why a PS3 game is being released in 2015 rather than on the PS4, the Persona games has become a staple for being the swan song for the previous generation consoles. Persona 3, for example, was released on August 14, 2007 in North America for the PS2, several months after the PS3 was released. Granted, this time around it will be over a year, but we’re guessing Persona fans won’t have trouble keeping their PS3s hooked up until Persona 5 is released.
Then again, Sony could have its Gaikai streaming service working by then, allowing PS4 owners to play PS3 games on their new consoles.
