Persona 3 has always been my favorite among the modern Persona games thanks to its darker, more mature themes. The cast remains the most memorable even as Atlus has kept the Persona 5 characters front and center for nearly a decade. Now Nintendo players will finally experience Persona 3 Reload when it launches on Switch 2 on October 24, 2025. In my review I wrote that Persona 3 Reload is an excellent remake of a beloved game, remaining faithful to the original while updating many outdated mechanics. While the game still centers on dungeon crawling in Tartarus, the cast and story remain among the genre’s best.
For those who discovered Persona with Persona 5, I highly recommend playing Persona 3 Reload, especially now that Persona 4 Revival is confirmed. Unfortunately, today’s Partner Showcase only announced Persona 3 Reload, but I’d be surprised if Persona 4 Revival isn’t also released on Switch 2. As for Metaphor: ReFantazio, that remains anyone’s guess, but it would also be a shocker if last year’s popular RPG didn’t come to Nintendo’s newest console.
Persona 3 introduced the formula we know today, with players taking on the role of a transfer student who spends days forging bonds with friends and nights awakening an incredible power to unravel the mysteries of the Dark Hour.
